Tea Brewing Tips & Techniques for Getting the Perfect Cup

In India, tea is not just a beverage, it's an emotion that helps people get a great start to the day and is a faithful companion throughout the day as well. A perfect cup of tea is an art-form that calls for proper brewing that includes love and a little bit of patience to allow the leaves to infuse well with water and give you that perfect taste.

Quality of Milk

Depending on how your tastebuds run, you may find yourself enjoying tea with additional milk or less. Some prefer a wholesome pouring of milk as it's more filling & makes your tea serving of a thicker consistency; but be shy of the milk pouring & the true essence of tea leaves comes out.

Add your sugar/sweetener of choice into your strainer while boiling the tea pot

Steeping tea in milk is a great way to enjoy big tea flavour, but it does not yield the same results as a strong brew in water. Why not? You want your chai tea brewing temperature to be a full boil. Low simmer for up to 5 MINS (warning: rapid boil kills the chai) remember to give it a bit of love with a few stirs.

They add this gorgeous earthy, warm flavour that can leaving you feeling satisfied and helps heal your body in more ways than one. A lot of people like to make a chai masala or tea blend that they can add to their tea while brewing it, but we suggest adding freshly pounded spices instead.

Here are some of the health benefits of the common spices used in making Chai tea :

•Elaichi - Known to help in lowering blood pressure.

•Cinnamon - Well-known for its anti-diabetic effects by reducing blood sugar levels.

Pull Your Chai

Take the chai and pour back and forth repeatedly between two vessels or from a ladle into your pot from a height. This process makes your chai thick and frothy while adding extra aroma. This is how the chaiwalas in India make their famous road side teas.

Use right quantity of tea leaves

The amount of loose-leaf tea that is used for 1 cup of tea depends on the type of tea. Typically, 4 grams of tea

leaves should be used for every 200 ml of water. Theres no one-size-fits-all method of measuring loose leaves though.
